Three steps
How the Virtual Conservator plays
The application loads a selected object — a monument, a uniform, a weapon or a painting — and then cuts it by a Voronoi algorithm into six, twelve, twenty-four or forty-eight pieces, depending on the difficulty level. The pieces scatter around the target position. Your task is to put the object back together by dragging the elements in three-dimensional space.
-
Choose an object
Fifty-six objects from four partner museums. The Poniatowski monument, Napoleonic uniforms, period weapons, battle paintings.
-
Pick a difficulty
Easy (six pieces) for the youngest players, Very Hard (forty-eight) for the persistent. A golden marker pulses above one of the pieces — the anchor point, the reference for the assembly.
-
Assemble and discover
Drag the pieces in three-dimensional space. The application will snap a piece into its target position when it is close enough. Once assembled — a leaderboard with the best times.
Fifty-six objects
Four museum collections
The Virtual Conservator plays on real three-dimensional scans of objects from four museum collections, for which the project's executor obtained personal consents — and on eleven gigapixel images from three Polish military museums.
The monument of Duke Józef Poniatowski
A scan of the 1952 post-war reconstruction of the 1832 Thorvaldsen cast, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Warsaw. Consents: Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, ABW, BOR.
Staszic Museum in Piła + reenactors
Uniforms and weapons of the 8th Infantry Regiment (Godebski's regiment!), the National Cavalry, the 4th Infantry Regiment of the Duchy of Warsaw. Thirteen movable objects — hats, jackets, czapkas, muskets, pistols, a sapper's axe, a knapsack.
Greater Poland Military Museum in Poznań
The remaining thirty three-dimensional models — uniforms of the 1st Light Horse Regiment of the Polish Imperial Guard, regimental kettledrums, mortars, a barrel with the Pobóg coat of arms. They are gradually being added to the library.
Gigapixel images — two-dimensional puzzles
Suchodolski's Battle of Raszyn, Bacciarelli's portrait of the Duke, Rosen's Napoleon on horseback, works by Wojciech Kossak and Bronisław Gembarzewski. Three billion pixels scattered into pieces to assemble.
The application runs in the Showcase edition — it makes virtualised heritage available without an export option. The player can interact with the model, but cannot download it.
